Message Nate brought his car to me 3 weeks ago to go through and diagnose/correct a poor idle condition as well as install a bunch of performance parts. Greddy fuel pressure, Greddy Coolant Temperature, Greddy Boost Pressure, RPS MAX clutch, RPS Segmented FW, Snow Performance Water/Methanol Injection Kit, replace/reseal valve cover gaskets, reroute boost control lines, reroute drivability hose, and several cosmetic touches in the engine bay. The list is quite long and this is a slimmed-down version of everything that was done to prep the car for dyno-tuning and long-term reliability.

As past experience has reflected, I usually post dyno results here once I have my hands on them, but Nate made a request for me to give some feedback on what I thought of his TT - not only do I have good things to say about his car, but Nate was a pleasure to work for.

So, here she is! :)

After getting everything into check and some break-in miles were put on the clutch, we took her up to BNO performance for dyno tuning.

Given that Nate's car has stock internals, the tuning process was quite conservative and the engine was not pushed to its absolute potential. The car was tuned for both pumpfuel and racefuel configurations, and the water injection is simply treated as a 'safety buffer' when running pumpfuel at 20psi. There were quite remarkable gains in torque with the addition of the water injection.

In the dynochart shown on the right, the final-tune results are shown. The car produced a healthy 406RWHP and 428RWTQ at 18psi with the water injection running.

Sunoco 114 octane race fuel was added to the mix and the boost was raised to 23psi with water injection running. This netted 461RWTQ and 442.3RWHP.

I have to say though, even despite the fact that these numbers are no dyno-queen *glamour* numbers, this car is a ROCKETSHIP. This being the first vehicle I have custom tuned and driven with Sport500 turbos, I have a lot of newfound resect for what these little hairdryers are capable of. They reach full spoolup of 18psi by 4600RPM and the onset of power is remarkably quick and very predictable. There is a seat of pants difference of about 30RWTQ when the water is added to the mix and the turbos spool up even quicker.

The combination of Skyline wheels/brakes and some healthy Nike's on this car, Nate is putting down all 430ft/lbs of grunt to the ground and it is all VERY streetable power. 1st gear gives you the obvious 4500RPM wheelspin, tat-tat-tat off the rev limiter as the car catches up, grabbing second and the tires doing everything they can to stay glued while you stay pinned to the seat. Third gear is just SICK.
